Question:

Have you considered Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) for your design?

Answer:

LEED is a rating-system developed for the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and adopted by the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC). LEED has developed rating systems for New Construction, Commercial Interiors, Core and Shell, Schools & Retail, Existing Construction, as well as for Homes. For LEED Homes, the latest Pilot Version was released in February 2007 in the United States, and includes a program involving a number of homes across North America to validate the process. Our project did not fit the timelines for this important pilot program, however, the project team has used LEED processes and concepts as a guideline for The Living Home. We intend to reference LEED credits in the design documentation on this website to illustrate the meticulous detail encompassed by this rating system.
